The College of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is looking for a Nurse Practitioner. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.
Job Summary: Under general supervision from a designated administrator, assist in providing comprehensive, continuous, and personalized care to patients in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of General OB/GYN.
The nurse practitioner assesses plans and assumes total nursing care of a patient's specific Gynecologic Oncology needs under the direction of a physician. Collaborates with physicians, residents, medical students and oncology nurses as needed. Gives patient care directions to other nursing staff members, following established standards, policies and procedures. Evaluates outcomes of direct patient care and consults with other specialists as needed.
Job Description:
Obtain medical history of the patient;
Perform physical examinations and preventative health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of physicians' needs.
Order, interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
Record physician findings and develop, coordinate and implement treatment plans and prognosis, based on patient's condition.
Discuss case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
Submit health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodical review and evaluation by physician.
Prescribe or recommend drugs or other forms of treatment as needed.
Refer patients to appropriate physicians for consultation if needed or to specialized health resources for treatment.
Provide education related to diabetes to medical professionals.
Assist with research process as applicable
Attend required laboratory safety, blood-borne pathogens and OSHA training sessions on an annual basis.
Comply with infection control policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: Current/valid RN license to practice in the state of Ohio. A Master's degree in Nursing and graduation from an ANA approved Nurse Practitioner Program. Three (3) years nursing experience. CPR Certified. Some specialists may require certification in corresponding area.
