Laboratory Manager- Wake Forest Baptist Health Wilkes Medical Center

Wake Forest Baptist Health is currently seeking a Laboratory Manager for our Wilkes Medical Center in beautiful Wilkesboro, North Carolina.  Reporting directly to Wilkes Medical Center’s Chief Nursing Officer, the selected individual will be responsible for managing the Core Laboratory, Microbiology, Blood Bank and Pathology/Histology departments, including: staffing, budgeting, licensure, day-to-day operations, scheduling, quality assurance, proficiency and competency of staff, quality improvement, cost containment and inpatient services.

Wilkes Medical Center opened in 1952 as a 100-bed hospital on 19 acres. Today, we are licensed for 130 beds, including a 10-bed skilled nursing unit on our main campus. Through our offsite facilities, Wilkes Medical Center has expanded our outpatient services to include a state-of-the-art Rehabilitation Center. In July 2017, Wake Forest Baptist Health signed a 30-year lease agreement with Wilkes Medical Center under which Wake Forest Baptist is investing $238 million in support of hospital, the Town of North Wilkesboro, the Wilkes community, and patients served in the region. Laboratory statistics: Our department has 38 employees including full time and PRN medical technology and phlebotomy personnel. We average 170,000 billable tests and over 725 blood transfusions annually.
