The Postdoc will be responsible for the performance of both chemical and microbiological experiments. Duties will include the chemical synthesis of modified nanoparticles, the performance of bacterial killing assays in vitro and the measurement of drug distribution and efficacy in mouse models of infection. The individual will be required to work independently and will be responsible for designing and trouble-shooting experiments and interpreting their results. In addition, the individual will present results at local and national meetings and prepare manuscripts for publication.
Helps design, set-up and conduct basic experiments while following protocols
Analyzes and troubleshoots protocols and data obtained from individual experiments together with the PI
Maintains detailed records of results which may include collecting, extracting and entering data
Interprets, prepares and presents results
Prepares data for presentations and publications
Performs scientific literature searches in support of research
Performs other duties as assigned.
PhD or equivalent
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Desired skills include a background in chemistry and microbiology with familiarity with some of the basic experimental techniques in these fields, writing/speaking English.
PhD or equivalent with research experience in chemistry and microbiology/bacteriology
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
Applicants with experience working with nanoparticles and bacteria will be given preference.
