Job Summary: These positions are part of MSU's Global Impact Initiative that will recruit 100 top-level researchers to MSU over the next five years.The plant science departments and the newly created Plant Resilience Institute (PRI; http://msutoday.msu.edu/news/2016/world-renowned-scientists-to-study-plant-resilience-in-new-msu-research-institute) at Michigan State University are inviting applications for multiple tenure system positions at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level for individuals studying plant responses to abiotic stresses, such as drought and temperature extremes, and biotic stresses such as attack by pathogens and insect pests. MSU has a vibrant plant science community comprising more than 150 faculty members conducting a wide range of plant research spanning the lab-to-field continuum in both natural and agricultural ecosystems. We are seeking candidates who address compelling research questions in plant stress biology that will strengthen, complement, and collaborate with on-going research programs at MSU. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: the role of the microbiome in plant resilience; adaptation to abiotic and biotic stresses; tree and forest systems as regulators and responders to changing climates; genomics of plant resilience; plant stress signaling pathways, including volatile signals; impact of climate change on plant growth and productivity; use of gene editing to improve plant resilience. Successful applicants will contribute to undergraduate and/or graduate teaching and maintain an externally funded research program. PRI is a multi-departmental research unit, with current faculty appointed in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR; http://www.canr.msu.edu/) and/or the College of Natural Sciences (CNS; https://natsci.msu.edu/). Successful candidates may be jointly appointed in one or more departments/programs on campus including the departments of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Horticulture, Forestry, Microbiology & Molecular Genetics, Plant Biology, and Plant, Soil, & Microbial Sciences. Minimum Requirements: A Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) is required for consideration. For positions filled at the rank of Associate and Professor, a strong record of extramural funding is required. Applicants should have a strong record of accomplishments and publications.
