DUTIES: Assist the Director of Environmental Health and Safety in the administration of the campus-wide safety programs. (i.e. Hospital, Clinics, Research, University, Resident Halls, Daycare Center, etc.). Provide administrative supervision in the absence of the Director. Administer occupational exposure monitoring programs. Perform appropriate risk assessment and manage components of occupational safety management programs to minimize exposures. Monitor and respond to indoor air quality issues. Participate and assist with employee training and ongoing in-service education on Right to Know law, hazard communication standard compliance, toxic substance indentification, storage and labeling, waste management, loss control risk management, protective clothing selection, utilization of personal protective equipment, noise control, eye protection, fire safety, chemical safety and other areas of safety. Communicate/interact with personnel in the identification and resolution of safety concerns identified. Coordinate chemical hygiene plan, hazard communications standard and hazardous waste disposal. Manage annual laboratory safety and blood inspections. Provide consultation services on health and safety issues, as required. Environmental and personal monitoring to respective Safety Committee. Participate in emergency response planning. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree completed in Environmental Health & Science, Industrial Hygiene or a related field. The diversity of the campus requires that a candidate interact with all employees and possess knowledge of regulatory requirements to plan for and address any or regulatory requirements. Three years of experience in a healthcare, research and educational settings. Ability to function with minimal supervision of the Director of Environmental Health and Safety.
