The Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington is recruiting for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor (0113) level, without tenure due to funding, clinician/teacher pathway, in the area of Infectious Diseases. This will be a multi-year appointment with a service period of 12 months. Successful applicants should have a track record of excellence as a clinician and teacher.
The new Assistant Professor will work in close collaboration with Public Health Seattle & King County (PHSKC) and serve as Co-Director of the PHSKC STD Clinic, a position he or she will share with another infectious disease physician. As part of that position, he or she will see patients in the STD clinic, supervise mid-level practitioners in the clinic, and help set clinic policies. He or she will also serve as the lead clinician for the Max Clinic, an HIV clinic housed in the STD clinic that provides care to persons with HIV infection who have not been successful receiving care in other venues. The new faculty member will see patients in the Madison HIV clinic and the Harborview Infectious Diseases Clinic.
In addition to directing the STD clinic, the new faculty will be the Seattle course director for a first year medical school course called Invaders and Defenders. This is a microbiology and immunology course. The new faculty will play a leading role developing the course curricula, will lecture in the course and meet with students as needed.
The candidate must hold an MD or foreign equivalent and be board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases or their foreign equivalents. The candidate will have contemporary experience in the care of patients with HIV and STDs. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
