The College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Biosciences is seeking a Post Doctoral Researcher for the NIH-funded laboratory of Dr. Shan-Lu Liu within the Center for Retrovirus Research. Learn more about the Center for Retrovirus Research here. This position is available for one year with possible renewal beyond the first year. The Postdoctoral Researcher will join a lab with a primary focus in membrane fusion and cellular entry of enveloped RNA viruses as well as host innate immunity to viral infection. The lab has a strong interest in retroviruses, influenza A virus, Zika virus, Ebola virus, and innate sensing to viruses. Highly motivated individuals with a strong background in virology, cell biology, and innate immunity are encouraged to apply. The lab is especially seeking candidates who have skills and experience in innate sensing and immunity, viral entry, pathogenesis and cell-to-cell transmission. Recently graduated PhD candidates are encouraged to apply. These candidates will be working on the mechanisms of IFITM, TIM and other new cellular proteins that restrict Ebola virus, influenza A virus, and HIV-1.
Doctoral degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; PhD in virology, microbiology, immunology, bioengineering, biophysics or a related discipline
Experience with basic molecular/cellular biology experiments, such as cloning, PCR, or DNA purification; and experience in HIV-1, Ebola virus, innate sensing, signaling, or cancer
Target Salary: $47,484.00 - $47,508.00 Annually
