DUTIES: SCOPE OF POSITION: The Infection Control and Prevention Coordinator is responsible for implementing the hospital's infection control plan by performing daily infection surveillance and reporting and the provision of subject matter support and education in policy revision and implementation and process improvement projects. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Review microbiology reports and medical records to identify matters relevant to hospital infection control and prevention; Conduct bedside surveillance and consult with clinical staff to provide guidance on infection control policies and best practices; Identify cases reportable to NHSN database, as well as New York State and New York City Departments of Health; Perform environmental infection control monitoring throughout the hospital and its off-sites, tracking and trending outcomes. Developing improvements and following up on corrective plans; engage in teaching, infection trending, policy development and outbreak investigation. Participate in committees and implement recommendations and interventions. Participate in committees and implement recommendations and interventions; lead improvement projects to reduce the risk of infections and implement best practices. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology, or Public Health/Epidemiology. Excellent communication skills. Excellent computer skills. Ability to work independently. Careful attention to detail. Certification in Infection Control within two (2) years of hire. PREFERRED: Experience in hospital infection prevention and control. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) Additional Info: * Represents Location Pay for full-time appointees.
