The primary purpose of this position is to help establish and maintain a transgenic zebrafish facility. The position entails daily oversight of all facility operations, the generation of transgenic zebrafish, and general lab maintenance. The position also involves assisting with developmental biology and toxicology studies of neurovascular development using zebrafish as a model.
Required: B.S. or B.A. in Biology or related field.
Undergraduate research experience
Relevant course work related to molecular biology, developmental biology, neuroscience, or related areas
Ability to work as part of a team and follow detailed instructions
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication and record keeping skills
General background knowledge of biology
Requires handling of hazardous chemicals
Requires working with zebrafish
Requires training in laboratory safety, animal care and hazardous waste management (to be provided by Environmental Health & Safety at Brown University)
