Laboratory Technologist I- Part Time, 24 hours/week Position #50011107 Pay Grade 36
The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a part-time Laboratory Technologist I to work in the diagnostic endocrinology service. This position is an integral part of a team of individuals who provide endocrine diagnostic support for veterinarians on a national and international basis. The team works closely together to process and analyze samples from animals with suspected endocrine disorders and to report test results back to responsible veterinarians on a timely basis. Duties & Responsibilities The successful applicant will learn how to perform basic routine testing procedures on various clinical specimens to establish the presence and identification of disease-causing agents or conditions, which includes performing hormone assays (radioimmunoassay's & chemiluminescent-based assays) on patient samples. He or she will assist with maintaining overall quality of service through quality control measures and excellent customer service. Additionally, the incumbent will assist with performing general lab duties and maintenance, as well as assist with reporting data to veterinarians and senior veterinary students. Some supervision of a part-time student assistant will be required.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific area such as biology, microbiology, medical technology, or equivalent education and experience.
