The Building Manager is responsible for the day-to-day building management of all ERC common spaces and areas specific to IME within the Eckhardt Research Center (ERC). Ensures effective delivery of infrastructure and building management services to support research activities. Supervising other building services staff, the building manager ensures the safe and efficient operation of the building infrastructure by providing necessary services related to the building operation including but not limited to dock operations supporting shipping and receiving, management of common spaces, related maintenance/repair, safety/security and environmental protection. The position requires knowledge of infrastructure systems, building controls, monitoring systems and and occupant needs. The Building Manger contributes to long-term strategic and short-term operating plans for the buildings in collaboration with the IME Director of Facilities. Assist with coordinating contractor activities to minimize negative impacts on research, building operations and impact to its occupants. The Building Manager works closely with the Lab Safety Specialist to coordinate and maintain general building and laboratory safety requirements. Collaborates with other Building Managers in support of additional IME facilities needs outside of the ERC to complete tasks and initiatives as required.- Routinely monitors environmental conditions and proper operation of building systems and equipment.- Coordinates effective delivery of janitorial services.- Enforces policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all students, staff and faculty members.- Oversees the management and maintenance of common space in the building, including the cafe, share meeting space, and conference rooms.- Under the Facilities Director's guidance, works closely with the Dock Manager to ensure safe, efficient and effective dock operations.- Works closely with the Lab Safety Specialist to coordinate safety and environmental compliance programs in buildings.- May act as project manager for small renovations, alterations and repairs as assigned by IME Facilities Director.- May be required to work non-standard hours.- Implement and develop programs and policies related to the facility.
