Position Summary: Metabolic Engineering and Synthetic BiologyThe Avalos lab at Princeton University is currently accepting postdoctoral research applications from highly qualified candidates interested in working in metabolic engineering and synthetic biology. We are a team of engineers, biochemists, and microbiologists interested in sustainable production of renewable energy, chemicals, and drugs. Two postdoctoral positions are currently available. One position will focus on yeast engineering for the production of advanced biofuels. The second position will focus on using photosynthetic microorganisms (microalgae and/or cyanobacteria) for the production of biofuels and chemicals.The group is part of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering as well as the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment (ACEE). The ACEE is a new center at Princeton University dedicated to research in the areas of sustainable energy development, energy efficiency, and environmental protection and remediation. Essential Qualifications: A PhD is required. Qualified candidates will be highly motivated, with a strong background in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics, or related fields. Experience in metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, yeast, microalgae or cyanobacteria is a plus. The starting date is flexible, but positions are available immediately.
