Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is recruiting for a Senior Environmental Scientist to work in our St. Louis, Missouri office. This is a position which will appeal to individuals with experience in impact studies pursuant to NEPA, good work ethic, and genuine interest in career growth within a professional team of scientists and ecologists. The desired candidate’s primary responsibilities would include leading the preparation of documents related to NEPA environmental assessments and environmental impact statements. The successful candidate will also be responsible for leadership of other support staff.
Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure invites qualified applicants with a Master’s degree in planning, environmental science or an equivalent discipline with 8-15 years direct work experience and understanding of NEPA and related laws and policies to apply for the position.
Duties include leadership and execution of client deliverables. This position will support on-going and future NEPA projects. Flexibility and willingness to work as part of an in interdisciplinary team is a must. Key responsibilities include the following:
Experience analyzing written, edited and organized material from diverse sources and then preparing clear, concise, understandable documents for public review
Technical understanding of impact assessment methodologies, technical writing and cumulative impacts assessment techniques
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Execution of defensible environmental impact statements and environmental assessments or other similar documents
Support agency involvement and public participation activities
Develop project scopes of work, fee estimates and schedules
Manage large task assignments and small-scale projects and assist with project management responsibilities
Skills / Qualifications
Masters degree in planning, environmental science or an equivalent discipline
8-15 years direct work experience
Understanding of NEPA and related laws and policies
The successful candidate will have advanced professional experience in developing and writing NEPA documents
Applicant will have excellent writing and communication skills
Experience with proposal preparation
Valid driver’s license and good driving record for travel within the central US
