Works under the supervision of the Laboratory Director. Facilitates normal LIS system operations, performs limited site specific LIS file maintenance, develops and writes site operational procedures and reports. Validates site LIS hardware and software releases, billing, reports, and instrument / system interfaces. Primary point of contact for site. Verifies and troubleshoots computer system and computer peripheral device performance for site and escalates to enterprise where applicable. Ensures quality and regulatory compliance of site specific computer operations. Acts as a liaison for POC, Enterprise LIS, inter/intra laboratory/hospital/vendor projects/problems/issues/concerns. Serves as a computer application resource person at each site while maintaining excellent communication, follow through and service to all customers.

Troubleshoots hardware and software product issues to a point of adequate resolution or cause and effect, provides supporting documentation regarding resolution.
Perform product verification/validation and documents outcomes of any instrument interface, software and/or hardware changes or enhancements implemented that impact site. Uses auditing programs and test plans to verify the accuracy of the system databases and billing systems.
Works in conjunction with Enterprise LIS and vendor in establishing, maintaining, and troubleshooting connections with remote devices, including; printers, servers, modems, instruments, and interfaces. .
Performs basic instrument connectivity, and upload/ download troubleshooting. Manages and performs instrument auto verification tasks
Maintains care site specific established policies and procedures, validation documentation, objectives, quality assurance, regulatory compliance and safety standards for all computer operations.
Keeps LIS Enterprise team abreast of care site specific changes such as new or obsolete instrumentation or third party application that impact LIS and operations. Analyzes software and hardware functionality and communicates impact of hardware upgrades, enhancements, and services that support laboratory operations.
Demonstrates the ability to utilize the LIS and its functions to maintain laboratory operations, increase and/or optimize efficiencies of laboratory operations, and compile and evaluate data for process improvements and for implementation of solutions to problems identified.
Actively participates in downtime events, upgrades of interfaces, software and hardware.
Provides training and/or training tools to end users for LIS applications or other essential software applications as needed to perform job duties. Assures all documents are prepared and maintained for demonstrating associate competency with laboratory information system use.
Participates in change control process by validating workflow, and changes that impact site.
Demonstrates and maintains knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems; including but not limited to workflows, collection manager, laboratory, pathology, blood bank, microbiology and hospital systems.
Utilizes Enterprise issue reporting system (eService) and completes tasks in a timely manner. Engages other lab team associates as needed to resolve issues to a satisfactory outcome.
Evaluates need and requests test codes, cdms and other requests from laboratory electronically or per current process from IT and monitors for progress.
Serves as a resource to assist in evaluating IT needs for PIP for laboratory capital requests or per current IT support process.
Works with Enterprise LIS team to maintain data integrity within the application to include test index.
Demonstrates the ability to maintain system operations and troubleshoot; including follow up with staff, vendor communication and documentation, review.
Monitors, reports, troubleshoots, resolves the following activities for each site for Sunquest lab, copath, Blood Bank,
Site specific error logs (ie Site Error Log Printer)
Merge activities and logs for Blood Bank, Lab, Copath
Turn Around Time Reports
Results/Orders not crossing to downstream applications
Maintains and troubleshoots site status boards, ie OL Monitor. Engages site IT resources as needed.
Demonstrates the ability to produce reports as requested from the application and manages requests for customized reports.
Point of contact for Enterprise LIS and facilitates all communications related to LIS and applicable site operations.
Supports security and integrity of data within the system.
Participates in meetings as needed to complete projects and issues.
Bachelor degree in computer sciences or computer related field. A Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology with computer experience can be substituted.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience with PCs and/or Laboratory Information Systems preferred
MT(ASCP) or equivalent preferred
