Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree, New York State license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Technician and two years relevant laboratory experience required. Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills required.
Job Standard / Operational Needs: The Research Laboratory Technician is responsible for working with primary human cell cultures, maintaining endometrium cell lines, working with HIV and other recombinant viruses, conducting immunassays via ELISA, ELISPOT, migration, and proliferation methods, preparing cells and perform flow cytometry, and purifying cells using immunomagnetic separation methodology. The Research Laboratory Technician will be expected to maintain complete and accurate experimental records consistent with PI, Department, University, and IRB protocols, prepare stock solutions, maintain clinical donor specimens per NYS specifications, and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies. In addition, the Technician will serve as OBGYN Research Laboratory Safety Officer, provide back-up coverage of Perinatal Center Laboratory, and work with Department of OB GYN faculty, residents, and medical students as requested.
