The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, performing greater than 3.5 million billed procedures annually, is currently recruiting for a Microbiology Manager. This Centralized Department supports testing for two hospitals with over 1000 beds collectively, a Cancer Center, a standalone Emergency Center, and a large community outreach program. The Department of Microbiology offers traditional bacteriology, mycology, parasitology and mycobacterium testing and also performs state of the art molecular microbiology testing. This includes rapid identification of pathogens and drug resistant markers from blood cultures as well as for FLU/RSV, C-Diff, MRSA, meningitis and enteric pathogens.
The Microbiology Manager position is highly visible and plays a key role in conjunction with the Section Chief on Christiana Care’s Anti-Microbial Stewardship and Infection Prevention Programs and externally with the Delaware Division of Public Health Laboratory. In addition to providing direction and oversight to the department’s daily operation and its employees, this lab leader will guide and provide vision for the development of future workflows that allow for efficiency while maintaining impeccable quality. The position reports directly to the Director of Laboratory Operations and serves as a member of the Laboratory Operations Council under the direction of the Vice President of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the Department Chairman.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Master of Science in Microbiology required.
Five to ten years clinical microbiology experience, including traditional and progressive testing methods with three to five years supervisory/management experience.
ASCP or AAM certification or equivalent required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
