Medical Lab Support Technologist- Laboratory- Part Time Florida Hospital Lake Mary seeks to hire Medical Lab Support Technologist who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ. Facility Profile: The Florida Hospital Lake Mary Emergency Room (ER) is an extension of our Florida Hospital Altamonte Campus – located just north of Orlando. The 18,000-square-foot facility features state-of-the-art emergency healthcare serving the residents of Seminole County. The 24-bed ER includes an urgent care track to diagnose and treat non-emergent cases more efficiently, an observation unit to closely monitor care for up to 24 hours, and offers emergent care with a helicopter pad onsite. Department Profile: The Lake Mary Laboratory is staffed by a team of skilled professionals that use innovative instrumentation and efficient work processes all performed in a cost effective manner. The laboratory performs comprehensive testing in the specialties of hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology and transfusion services. The laboratory operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to produce safe, accurate and timely quality test results leading to excellent patient care. Work Hours/Shifts: Days; Varied Hours Job Summary: The Medical Technologist performs laboratory procedures in assigned areas as licensed. The position requires the exercise of independent judgment under minimum or moderate degree of supervision. Work customarily involves testing which may require a high degree of theoretical and practical knowledge and expertise in licensed area(s). Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Knowledge and Skills Required: Technical skills and aptitudes related to the laboratory testing, procedures and processes performed in department or work area assigned. Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written English with patients, staff, partners and customers of varied backgrounds in a respectful, effective, and professional manner Ability to read text and numbers in English, and to comprehend, measure, reason, match, and problem solve under supervision. Ability to apply accurately learned computer related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices. Mature judgment and the ability to handle confidential information within Florida Hospital guidelines and applicable regulations. Education and Experience Required: Preferred Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent term, OR Four years post secondary education with a concentration in the aforementioned subject matters, Chemical Science or Biologic Science or Healthcare-related field One year analytical, technical experience in Clinical Laboratory setting, OR Completion of a clinical internship in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent program Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required: Licensed by State of Florida at Clinical Laboratory Technologist level in appropriate specialties (Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Serology/Immunology, Microbiology, Immunohematology/Blood Banking, and/or Molecular Pathology) for the department or campus Assignment Preferred: Nationally certified as Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist, or equivalent term Licensed by State of Florida as Clinical Laboratory Technologist level in assigned department specialties, or all 6 areas (Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Serology/Immunology, Microbiology, Immunohematology/Blood Banking, Molecular Pathology).
