Perform work involving the development of new nanoscale materials and chemical systems. Provide professional advice and assistance in the resolution of substantial laboratory-related technical problems in the areas of chemistry; chemical, petroleum or civil engineering; industrial microbiology; or other applied industrial sciences associated with operational problems in Company facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design and carry out state-of-the-art synthesis and/or scaled-up production with minimum supervision in a research program focused on new nanoscale materials and chemicals for Reservoir Engineering
Provide professional advice and assistance in a specialized area of technology such as industrial, analytical or physical chemistry; microbiology; geotechnical or other specialized areas of civil engineering; petroleum or chemical engineering
Perform laboratory experiments and help create new material and chemical systems for new product applications using knowledge and skills in the areas of chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science
Keep current with significant developments in the field of specialization; will be expected to use these to assist in the direction of R&D programs or in high investigative assignments when applicable
Carry out and make comprehensive professional reports about original investigations; review existing patents and recommend appropriate intellectual property strategies
Maintain and update working knowledge of applicable state-of- the-art laboratory instrumentation preferably including liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry and NMR
Provide and manage a safe, accident-free laboratory environment; follow all company safety rules in performing job duties
Lead collaborative research with other R&D areas of the company, e.g., analytical chemistry, process engineering, applications, etc. for increased intellectual property opportunities and future business advancement of Aramco Services Company (ASC) or Saudi Aramco; publish in relevant journals and present in conferences
Serve as a team leader or participate in major investigative projects as assigned
Perform other miscellaneous related duties as requested
Education and Experience
B.S. Degree in Science/Engineering/Physics/Mathematics Discipline as appropriate for the area of expertise for the assigned jobs is required
Ph.D. degree in Synthetic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other Materials Science preferred
Seven years (7) experience in a substantive industrial, technological or laboratory area relevant to the jobs assignment required
Experience with the techniques and instrumentation of analytical chemistry is desirable
Strong knowledge and skills in design, synthesis, and/or scaled-up production of nanomaterials and chemicals preferred
Specific experience and expertise with nanomaterials synthesis, handling, and best EHS practices preferred
Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined
Candidate should be comfortable in working independently or part of a project team, frequent project presentation and travel to meetings at conferences and universities
Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette
