The Division of Malaria Research(DMR) within the University of Maryland School of Medicine's Institute forGlobal Health (IGH) is recruiting for an Instructor or Assistant Professor,non-tenure track, to design and lead clinical trials and epidemiologicalstudies at the DMR's international site in Malawi. Applicants with interest andqualifications to do so may also contribute to immunological, molecular andgenomic aspects of DMR research studies.
The faculty appointment will be at the rank of Instructor or AssistantProfessor, non-tenure track, based on guidelines for faculty appointment at theUniversity of Maryland School of Medicine. The applicant will be expected toobtain a primary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics. This is afull-time faculty position, preferably to be permanently located at the DMRclinical trials site in Malawi, Expatriate status.
Since much of the proposed researchinvolves studies in Malawi, prior experience in working in resource limitedsettings is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will have experienceconducting clinical research, evidence of productivity as demonstrated bypublication of completed projects and be interested in pursuing a career inscientific research. The Candidate will engage in collaborative research thatdraws upon the expertise of scientists from the Division of Malaria Research,the Department of Pediatrics, the Department of Epidemiology and Public Healthand the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, affiliated international sites,and other strategic partnerships.
