The Department of Basic Medical Science at the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine is seeking applications for a Medical Microbiologist to serve as an educator in our innovative six-year BA/MD combined-degree program. The Department of Basic Medical Science includes a diverse group of teaching scholars dedicated to excellence in medical education. The successful applicant will coordinate and teach a Medical Microbiology course to Medical Students, and will also teach Physician's Assistant Students in a series of courses that integrate Medical Microbiology, other basic medical sciences, and clinical science. Finally, although not essential, the ability to teach Immunology would be advantageous. The position is a full-time, non-tenure-track, twelve-month renewable appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, dependent upon qualifications. The target starting date is September 1, 2017.
Requirements include a Ph.D., M.D., or comparable terminal degree and experience in teaching Medical Microbiology at the undergraduate, graduate, or professional level. While research is not a requirement, it is encouraged, and possibilities exist for independent and collaborative research within the University and the School of Medicine's clinical affiliates.
