Work with team to build system tools that will ensure the system-wide capability to be able to adopt and meet the defined standards. Work with team to track global policies and standards for restaurants. Ensure compliance with all customers, regulatory and company requirements in order to provide consumers with safe food. Assists in development, implementation and analysis of key metrics for identifying areas of opportunities, gaps and provides innovative leadership in searching for solutions and eliminating barriers.
Food Safety • Educates and assists with implementation of system-wide restaurant food safety standards • Partners with Operations teams to support system wide initiatives • Collaborates with food safety and restaurant operations colleagues to identify specific food safety outcomes and key performance indicators • Assists in maintaining the food safety practices and systems to deliver those outcomes. • Shares knowledge across markets on "restaurant best practices" for adoption, improvement and scaling by others and makes recommendations for continuous improvement and benchmarking • Assists with selection, implementation and evaluation of inventions and innovations that assist with reducing risk and driving simplification • Works with all stakeholders to identify threats to food safety and assist in developing appropriate system-wide responses. • Monitors compliance to global food safety policies and standards and their ability to reduce the risk of food-borne illness across the system. • Reviews food safety verification (audits, sampling, cooking, etc.) results and ensure information is visible and available • Works with team to assists with evaluation and approval of key equipment, operational platforms, new products, procedures, packaging and cleaning supplies, to ensure they minimize risk, enable delivery of safe food, and aid with operational simplification. • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned in response to changing business conditions
People/Relationship Management • Maintains effective relationships and communications with all key contacts across the system (McDonald's SCM, Operations/RSG, Equipment, market QA and Food Safety staff • Communicates the McDonald's restaurant food safety vision, plan, implementation progress, and measures of success to McDonald's departments/key stakeholders. • Cultivates and promotes working relationships within McDonald's and with counterparts in other corporations and outside professional organizations to gain and exchange knowledge (best practices). • Industry Leadership, Innovation and Technology • Fosters stakeholders in their research to bring ideas and solutions that enable and enhance execution of our food safety standards • Stays abreast with knowledge, technology and trends in the food safety industry and restaurant practices to enable McDonald’s to leverage and pull • Represents McDonald’s and maintains networks in outside venues
• Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Environmental Health or related Science field. Strong knowledge of food safety systems and practices related to food hygiene, HACCP, sanitation, SSOPs, GCPs, food production/operations. • At least 5 years of work experience in the food and restaurant industry, with evidence of strong interpersonal and people skills. Ability for strategic and innovative thinking and strong communication skills is required. • Knowledge of McDonald’s or restaurant environment is preferred • Able to work under minimal supervision, yet be accessible and available due to time zone differences and diverse geographic location of core team
