The Staff Research Associate 3 will perform technical duties in the laboratory, which include, but may not be limited to: (1) creation of reagents for experiments, (2) animal (mouse) studies involving mating, handling of pups, the use of experimental conditions including hypoxia chambers and injection of mice, and maintenance of animal data in excel spreadsheets, (3) record keeping of all experimental results and conditions, (4) cell culture work, (5) human subjects' recruitment, informed consent, and tissue collection and processing, (6) appropriate documentation and maintenance of biobank subjection information in a decoded manner. The research associate will communicate with the PI on a daily basis, and this job will require prior data management and computer skills. Proficiency with Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as GraphPad Prism is required. The SRA III will be responsible for managing workflow in the lab, biobanks, and inventories of chemical and materials. Lastly, the SRA III will be responsible for overseeing, teaching and managing other lab personnel including fellows and students.
Required: ?Ability to recognize out of control situations, and notify proper personnel to remedy situation. Willingness and ability to work changing hours if necessary. Basic knowledge of tissue culture, microbiology, cellular biology. Knowledge of basic chemistry and biology. Knowledge of quality control and instrument usage. Ability to maintain water bath temperatures and water levels. Ability to keep accurate and organized records. Ability to perform simple lab calculations. Ability to perform laboratory tasks in timely manner in a high workload environment. Ability to work with potentially biohazardous material (human blood and serum). One to three years research experience in molecular biology and immunology. Skill in laboratory safety protocols including proper handling of biohazardous substances (chemicals, radioactive isotopes, and infectious agents).
