The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) is looking for a full-time junior accountant for our Finance division. Based in Washington, DC, ASM is part of one of science’s most exciting fields. The junior Accountant will oversee the recording of miscellaneous revenue activity in accordance with ASM policies. Process payments received; ensure all payments remitted through the ASM e-commerce platform, Net Forum and other merchant payment processing sites are effectively captured into the accounting systems; serve as liaison between Finance and other departments for cash receipts and revenue matters.

Accounting coursework strongly preferred.
3 – 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a professional environment required
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Account Receivable experience required
Accounting systems experience required
Association Management System experience preferable
Proficient in MS Office and particularly Excel required
Non-profit experience a plus
Ability to multi-task required
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail required
Strong written and verbal communication skills required
Ability to collaborate with others and work independently
