Covance Food Solutions, formerly National Food Lab is looking to add a Food Laboratory Manager – Microbiology to our Food Safety team. With more than 70 years of experience in nutritional testing, Covance plays a leading role in the design of testing programs required to meet regulatory nutrition facts labeling requirements, regulatory mandates and scientific standards. Covance provides our clients with expertise in Nutritional Analysis, Microbiology Testing and Product Development. In this role you will be responsible for the creation and development of new systems/processes to facilitate the high quality, efficient, and safe execution of research microbiology projects designed by the Food Safety Research group. This position develops all programs related to laboratory operations, including laboratory quality and safety programs, equipment maintenance/calibration programs, the purchase of new equipment, budget management, and hiring. As projects are highly variable and non-routine in nature, a person in this position must have a strong technical background in food microbiology grounded in research experience to make independent decisions regarding the execution of laboratory research studies, along with flexibility and creativity. This position is an integral part of the Food Safety Research group management team.
