Performs and interprets routine diagnostic assays on blood and body fluids. Performs all duties related to the preparation, identification, and testing of specimens. Performs all related documentation tasks. May be required to obtain patient blood samples by venipuncture, or capillary puncture using aseptic techniques and collection skills appropriate to the age and level of difficulty of the patient. Participates in evaluating, documenting and implementing technical assays. Provides technical guidance to non-certified personnel. Position requirements: Education and experience equivalent to the guidelines by CMS in the Clinical Lab Improvement Act (CLIA) and NJSDH requirements. BSMT or AS/AAS including clinical rotations. Certified by a Category I Agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT, HIS/HEW). Proficiency in Chemistry and Hematology. Blood Bank experience preferred. Microbiology experience a plus. Scheduling: Weekend and Holiday rotations required.
