Faculty members are responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy and framework of the relevant programs at MassBay Community College.
MassBay Community College seeks qualified part time Laboratory Technicians. The Lab Technicians supports the work of the Laboratory Management in maintenance of the STEM laboratories on the Wellesley Hills and Framingham campuses. This position may include evenings and some weekends. Traveling between campuses and communication via cell phone might be necessary.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Processing Laboratory Requests submitted by faculty;
Preparation of chemical reagents and solutions some of which may be classified as hazardous;
Preparation of biological cultures following standard protocols;
Laboratory maintenance including but not limited to; light custodial tasks, washing glassware and other laboratory instruments, and putting away and restocking labs;
Assist in receiving laboratory supplies and maintaining current inventories;
Maintain Good Laboratory Practice in comply with all applicable safety rules;
Ability to work independently;
Annual onsite training will be required;
Other duties (of similar nature) as assigned;

Associates degree or higher in life or physical science discipline; with one-year experience working in a laboratory environment or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience;
General familiarity of federal, state, and local laboratory safety standards (OSHA, EPA) and Good Laboratory Practice guidelines;
Good written and oral communication skills;
Basic skills in Microsoft Excel, Office, and Word;
Ability to lift up to 20-25lbs;
Maintaining a valid driver's license.

Education: Associate degree in Life Science or Physical Science or a closely related field.
Salary Range: $18/hr., 18 hours per week.
