The PGY2 in Infectious Diseases (ID) builds upon clinical knowledge and leadership skills gained in a PGY1 pharmacy residency. Graduates of this residency program will gain experience across the continuum of care, including corporate antimicrobial stewardship initiatives, division-based facility coordination, acute care experience, education of healthcare providers and students, and collaboration with those in microbiology, infection prevention, and leadership. This experience in stewardship, leadership, and direct patient care allows the resident to gain a broad understanding of ID practice. The residency is conducted at multiple sites in the division to expose the resident to facilities of varying sizes and patient populations. Additionally, the resident gets experience leading a stewardship team and completing ID-related projects at the facility where their clinical staffing experience is conducted.
In addition to a competitive salary, residents also enjoy additional benefits:
Medical, dental, and vision insurance available through the University of Tennessee
Travel allowance for participation in professional meetings
Free parking and access to corporate gym/workout facility
After Residency: This program will prepare graduates for a clinical specialist or faculty position in an ID-related field.
