The Department of Immunology is seeking a senior research specialist to work on cutting edge research of adoptive T cell immunotherapy. The incumbent has the opportunity to participate in the cloning of the T cell Receptor Gene, the generation of gene delivery systems for T cell genes and T cell related genes, the screening of cloned T cell receptors against their putative antigens, and evaluating the therapeutic efficacy of adoptive T cell therapies in pre-clinical mouse models, including cancer and bone marrow transplantation. The hire will have the opportunity to manage state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and techniques, including but not limited to automated liquid handlers (robots), computational flow cytometry, next generation sequencing techniques and quantitative single cell PCR.
Responsibilities for this position include:
1. Scientific Record Keeping and data analysis
2. Oversee the maintenance of laboratory equipment and management and QC of common reagents and materials And an expert level mastery of at least one of the following areas.
3. Sterile technique and mammalian cell culture (murine and/or human primary immune cell isolation and expansion)
4. Basic and Advanced molecular biology, for example, qPCR, cloning, transformation, production of retroviral vectors, gene editing and gene design
5. The manipulation of mice for experimental purposes
6. Conducting and analyzing flow cytometry experiment
Masters (MA) degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field. At least 5 years of work experience is preferred in immunology, microbiology, virology and/or molecular biology. Extensive laboratory experience in biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, or other related fields. High competency in advanced molecular biology techniques. Computer literate. Knowledge of mathematical and chemical principles. Experience with lab safety and regulatory issues. Must be able to work under pressure and meet required deadlines. Equivalent Relevant Work Experience may be substituted for degree requirement and vice-versa.
