Northwestern University is seeking a temporary full-time Research Technologist for the Evanston campus.
Temporary Job Description:
The temporary Research Technologist position, under direct supervision of the senior staff, is required to carry out basic research activities in biochemistry, microbiology and metaboiomics. The technician will be trained to perform general sample preparation, bacterial cultivation/fermentation, PCR, and fractionating complex mixtures among other tasks. Meticulous record keeping of samples and inventory/ordering tasks will also be necessary. The Research Technologist will also assist in reagent preparation, routine equipment maintenance, and other tasks as required.
A High School degree or the equivalent;
Basic science-related mathematical calculations.
Meticulous record keeping.
Critical Thinking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Competent in use of basic laboratory tools and equipment, including pipettors, balances, and centrifuges.
Ability to learn new technology
MS Office suite 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
