PhD in Food Science, Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline Experience working in industrial fermentation related technologies Demonstrated experience in publishing research results in peer-reviewed journals Demonstrated experience working with industry clients in fermentation or biomaterials development Demonstrated experience in facilitating educational workshops and training
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences seeks qualified applicants for the position of Fermentation Engineer/Scientist of the Center for Crops Utilization Research (CCUR). This position will report to the Director of CCUR.
The Fermentation Engineer/Scientist will develop and implement technologies in industrial fermentation and biomaterials for projects utilizing the CCUR fermentation facilities. This will include designing experimental protocols, implementing and monitoring fermentations, and analyzing data. The Fermentation Engineer/Scientist will implement industrial fee-For-Service projects that will include leading project discussions with clients, negotiating non-disclosure and service agreements, executing the project and writing project reports. The Fermentation Engineer/Scientist will develop grant proposals to industry, state and federal funding agencies to perform research in the areas of fermentation to enhance food, feed and biomaterial development. This will include review of literature in fermentation science, and development of methodology and experimental design. The Fermentation Engineer/Scientist will be expected to publish, in collaboration with the CCUR Director, research results in peer-reviewed journals and present results at professional meetings. The Fermentation Engineer/Scientist will provide technical content for CCUR-sponsored educational workshops related to fermentation science.
This is a three year term position with annual performance evaluations. All accrued vacation must be used during term of appointment or will be forfeited.
