Essential Job Duties:
Primary duties of the Medical Laboratory Technologists include, but are not limited to:
Implementation of new laboratory offerings;
Performing QC testing on equipment and maintaining records for the laboratory.
Preparing for safety inspections and waste removal, and assessing and maintaining inventory for the lab.
Performing routine diagnostic testing that include molecular diagnostic assays and bacterial identification.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or a Biological Science; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Some positions may require compliance with current Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.
Capable of functioning as a clinical laboratory technician.
Ability to Understand laboratory equipment and processes.
Competent in establishing SOPs compliant with both State and Federal regulatory agencies.
Collegial and committed to growth in the laboratory and fellow laboratory personnel.
Capable and willing to design primers and probes in order to develop PCR assays for clinical application.
Experience with troubleshooting and optimizing PCR assays.
Ability to maintain data and samples produced from clinical cases.
Ability to learn and provide feedback necessary for implementation of LIS.
Ability to assist in preparation of molecular SOPs, perform QC and maintenance on equipment, maintain controls and prepare lab for inspections, manage consumables and communicate requests for ordering with lab supervisor, remove lab waste.
Must communicate effectively with all lab personnel, work effectively and efficiently with others but also take the initiative to work independently, timely.
Effective at time-management to accommodate for scheduled diagnostic testing and yet also flexible to adjust to unscheduled diagnostic testing.
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or a Biological Science and three years of laboratory experience related to the area of assignment.
Master's degree in related field and ability to conduct scientific literature searches and interpret documents is a plus.
Experience with laboratory testing and analysis.
Working experience performing microbiology with focus on application of molecular diagnostics using aseptic technique.
Experience with testing in microbiology and/or molecular biology.
