The University of Pittsburgh, Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences, is seeking a Research Specialist. This position will work with Primary Investigator Craig Kaplan, a newly recruited faculty member in the department of Biological Sciences. The lab is focused on gene expression mechanisms using model organisms.
Standard techniques used include molecular cloning of specific DNAs, site-directed mutagenesis of DNAs, yeast and bacterial DNA transformation, PCR including oligo design, protein analysis (Western blotting) or column chromatography. Preparation of samples for genomics analyses (DNA, RNA) and yeast genetic approaches including construction specific yeast strains by standard approaches or use of CRISPR/Cas9, and analysis of yeast strains using standard microbiological growth and phenotyping assays.
