The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is looking for a Research Postdoc to join the laboratory of Dr. Peter Jorth. The Postdoc should have experience in Microbiology, Bioinformatics, and/or Host-pathogen interactions to study antibiotic resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacterial infections. A background in bacterial genetics is desirable; however, experience analyzing next-generation sequencing data, expertise in confocal microscopy, or animal models of infection are also suitable.
Working independently, but in close cooperation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientists, you will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout their training period. In this role you may develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols and will analyze and interpret data. Will participate in publications and presentations as author or coauthor and they may assist in the preparation of grant proposals, but are not responsible for generating grant funds.
Essential job duties and responsibilities:
Work on a translational research project studying bacterial antibiotic resistance and pathogenesis.
Study the mechanisms of resistance and pathogenesis.
Incumbent is expected to troubleshoot and customize experimental tools to respond to research questions.
Generate clear and timely records of experimental work.
Communicate ideas and results with lab members and present research results at meetings and write up experimental results for publication.
Participation in laboratory meetings, keeping a lab notebook, performing calculations, tabulating data, summarizing methods and results of related experiments and general lab maintenance will be required.
Will be expected to function efficiently and cooperatively with a team of faculty, research associates, technicians and students.
