The Infection Prevention Coordinator position supports the mission ofPresbyterian/St Luke’s Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of allthose served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to theneeds of the whole person. InfectionControl Coord is responsible for the prevention, detection and control ofinfections in the facility. Theindividual is responsible for establishing, instituting and maintaining aneffective system for evaluation and reporting infections in patients. All of this shall be accomplished based on asystematic body of professional knowledge. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Completion of Infection ControlSurveillance course is preferred.
Certification in Infection Control (CIC)is desired, as employee becomes eligible to test for it.
Degree in nursing or medicaltechnology, or related field.
Master’s degree in public health,preferred.
Experience in infection control orrelated areas such as nursing or microbiology.
Ability to communicate effectivelywith patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members.
Strong critical thinking skills.
Demonstrates knowledge ofmicrobiology, normal flora, pathogens and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
