Main Function: Reporting to the Director of NA Procurement, this is a senior level position which is part of the North America Procurement team. The position, will be accountable for the procurement of raw materials and/or the associated finished goods packaging materials to achieve optimum financial results. The position is responsible for building and managing relationships with raw material suppliers, including the handling of logistics, accounting, and other supplier related issues. As a senior member of the procurement team, this position requires a high level of strategic thinking, market knowledge, and employee development, and is someone that entry and intermediate level team members come to for advice and development. Key skills & proficiencies: • Strategic Sourcing • Category Management • Contract Negotiation • Analytical Thinking • Impact & Influence • Achievement Orientation • Information Seeking • Business Savvy • Conceptual Thinking • Strategic Business Planning • Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Description of work performed: • Provide insight and support for the development and implementation of procurement concepts and sourcing strategies to meet the company’s business growth and sourcing requirements. • Negotiate agreements for raw materials, services and other items, as required. • Focus on internal customer satisfaction • Excellent understanding of international business processes. • Develop, execute and lead effective relationships with vendors and other business partners • Support budget planning of a coordinated controlling process with other locations as necessary • Partnership with the global procurement functions of ADM • Representation of ADM in various external Groups • Effectively contribute to the accomplishment of profit improvement programs, cost reduction and avoidance programs; and cost controls through effective material purchasing • In conjunction with the Logistics Team, develop, maintain, and implement an active transportation import and export program for key raw materials • Builds & maintains relationships with key strategic suppliers • Strategically seeks out new business opportunities that would profitably improve company assets • Strategizes & collaborates with suppliers in order to make valuable contributions to both companies. • Prepare & give presentations of influence to upper management as well as outside customers • Maintains a clear supplier account list that is defined by volume, price and strategic benefit to ADM • Attends training sessions external and internal to keep on top of new technology and innovation • Ensures the most cost efficient transportation and logistics, including discussions with corporate Logistics department. • Develops a good working knowledge of freight spreads, competitor activities & forms future business strategy • Handles all compliance & audit related issues in a timely manner to ensure compliance with corporate mandates. • Understands upper management strategic goals and drives goals of self and coworkers in accordance • Works to make quick decisions in fast market environments while accepting the responsibility to explain the business logic through business planning and analytical presentations • Develops a keen understanding of local, national, & world markets & trends commensurate to their experience level within the company • Develops outstanding knowledge of facility operations and guides operations through presentations and daily examples of cost saving and margin improving synergies • Works cross functionally to coordinate purchasing activities within the overall organization, with a high level of focus on: • Sales and Operations Planning Process. • Forecasting and Demand Management for all relevant products. • Master Production Scheduling and Master Planning of Resources (MRP). • Prepares and submits daily & ad hoc reports • Instrumental in the development & training of new employees • Is willing to work outside normal business hours including weekends based on business need
Four year University degree in food science, business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting), or a related focus, supplemented with a minimum of ten (10) years relevant work experience in the procurement of food, feed and/or flavor raw materials. • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. A master’s degree and/or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) is considered an asset. • Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast-paced work environment. Proven ability to assess business and financial risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions. • Computer proficient, with proven ability in the use of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software. • Individual must be committed to corporate ethics policies & safety programs
