The Department of Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor who would serve as the Associate Medical Director of Northwestern Memorial Hospital Laboratories. In this position, they will oversee the growth and operation of the clinical laboratories and play a major role in furthering the developing of the department into a world-class center for academic pathology. The successful candidate will be an established clinician with a national and international reputation for excellence in clinical pathology and laboratory operation. Areas of subspecialty training and clinical expertise may include, but are not limited to, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Hematology/Hematopathology, Molecular Pathology, or Transfusion Medicine. In addition, the candidate will have strong interpersonal and leadership skills and experience training residents and fellows as well as teaching medical and graduate students. The candidate will have a solid record of scholarship in their area of expertise and be able to take advantage of many translational and collaborative research opportunities at Northwestern University and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Responsibilities include working with the Medical Director to provide medical oversight of all clinical pathology laboratories. This will include rotation on clinical service, effective interaction with clinicians and participation in relevant subspecialty conferences. There will also be opportunities to develop strategies and implement policies for the integration of Northwestern Medicine Healthcare Labs across our ten hospitals.
Qualified candidates will hold MD, PhD or MD/PhD degrees and be board certified in Clinical Pathology from the American Board of Pathology. Candidates must be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Illinois. Applicants should possess post-graduate clinical training in clinical pathology; leadership experience in a clinical pathology lab; and, a strong record of translational research and clinical innovation. Rank and remuneration determined by qualifications and experience.
