At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population. Incumbent must be thoroughly familiar with, understand and be able to follow all prescribed policies, protocols, procedures and methodologies as utilized in the section to which he/she is assigned.

Duties of a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist may include but are not limited to the following:
* Has line responsibility for the performance of clinical analysis in the department of laboratories molecular genetics.
* Under general direction of the senior staff member, assist in the setting up of equipment and procedures, modification and update of existing procedures and development of overall departmental procedure manuals.
* Assists in the development and implementation of new diagnostic procedures.
* Assists in the development and implementation of a routine preventative maintenance program for equipment troubleshooting equipment and protocol issues. Bring to the attention of senior staff and department head all lab problems.
* Efficient use of several hospital and departmental computer information systems.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or Biological Science or Life Science. NYS License as Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility.
SL-1: Clinical Laboratory Technologist IV: 0-2 years of Molecular Genetics laboratory experience.
SL-2: Clinical Laboratory Technologist III: 2-5 years laboratory experience-minimum of 2 years Molecular Genetics laboratory experience plus 1 year Clinical Laboratory experience.
SL-3 Clinical Laboratory Technologist II: 5 plus years documented laboratory experience-minimum of 4 years Molecular Genetics laboratory experience.
