APostdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Department of Microbiology,Immunology and Biochemistry at University of Tennessee Health Science Center,Memphis, TN, USA.
The postdoctoral fellowwill work in Dr. Maria Gomes-Solecki laboratory. The postdoctoral fellow willperform a variety of well-defined Laboratory operations in the Department ofMicrobiology, Immunology and Biochemistry.
Major duties andresponsibilities:
*Plan, with the assistance of the PI, and executeexperiments to understand the interactions of Borrelia burgdorferi with thehost, including the tick vector (Ixodes scapularis) in a mouse model.
*Plan and execute a project as it relates tounderstanding the pathogenesis of Leptospira interrogans in mouse models.
*Execute a project on development of serologic assaysfor detection of SARS-CoV2 in COVID-19 patients.
*Infect animals and monitor them for diseaseprogression. Various tissues, blood, and urine will be collected for furtheranalysis.
*Able to analyze data, including determination ofantibodies to the pathogen in blood, determination of pathogen burden in bodyfluids and isolation of cells, RNA/DNA, and analysis for quantitative geneexpression for cytokines and chemokines
*Write/edit papers and laboratory protocols.
