| FISH Technician Supervisor Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) New York Cancer and Blood Specialists is looking for a full time Medical Laboratory FISH Technical Supervisor to add to our interdisciplinary team at our Core Lab in Port Jefferson, NY. The ideal candidate will be licensed to work in our NY CAP/CLEP accredited clinical lab. The candidate must meet the NYS code regulations Section 58-1.4, “ In this role, you will: - Implement new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation and procedures by investigating alternatives, preparing proposals, developing and performing parallel testing as well as monitoring progress.
- Carefully follow and understand all laboratory policies and procedures.
- Keep accurate and complete records.
- Attend/participate in laboratory QA/QC and safety meetings.
- Oversee compliance of standard operating procedures and safety policies.
- Perform direct harvest, slide prep, hybridization, scanning, analysis and imagining of a variety of FISH specimens.
- Maintain FISH laboratory staff by training and evaluating employees.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
We require: - Bachelor’s degree and current NYS Medical Technologist license required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
- Previous leadership experience in a NYS certified lab recommended.
- Experience with histology/cytology procedures, instrumentation and special staining techniques, as well as familiarity with FISH and microbiology processes.
- FISH is considered high complexity testing and requires extensive attention to detail.
This position is full time Monday through Friday, in the FISH laboratory, with guaranteed 8 holidays off.
