This position will serve as a Senior Research Technician for the Center for Vaccine Research (CVR), Regional Biocontainment Laboratory (RBL).
The incumbent will be responsible for conducting independent methods and procedures for research involving molecular and immunological techniques, as well as non-human primates and small laboratory animals in the Biosafety Level (BSL) 2 and 3 environments with routine work in the Regional Biocontainment Laboratory (RBL). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, independently initiating and troubleshooting research protocols; performing specialized sample processing techniques such as blood/tissue processing, RNA extraction, flow cytometry, PCR, RT-PCR, ELISA, plaque assay, sequencing, etc.; supervising and training other professional research personnel in specialized techniques; operating and maintaining laboratory equipment; maintaining thorough documentation of laboratory results and ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies.
This position may require medical surveillance and vaccinations with licensed vaccines. This position will require successful completion of Department of Justice security clearance for work with Select Agents and Toxins, as required by Federal regulation.
Master's Degree in Biology, Microbiology or similar field, or a Bachelors degree plus equivalent work experience. Experience with BSL-3 pathogens preferred.
