Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to support global R&D biologicals in the bio-insecticide team. Under direction of the manager and in collaboration with the bio-insecticide team, you will test biological insecticides leads (lab and greenhouse) and BASF biological registered market products as beneficial nematodes on crop and non-crop insects. Also, you will execute basic microbiology assays, as well as set-up, execute, analyze and report results. Experience working in any of the following will be considered an asset: beneficial nematodes, lab and greenhouse, major insect pests (crop and non-crop), and in Bio-Safety Level 2(BSL2) setups.
Formula for Success
Leveraging your education in biological or agricultural science such as entomology, agronomy, plant pathology or a related field and your ability to develop and improve research assays, you will conduct entomology assays including beneficial nematodes (lab and Green house) to include the development, improvement and execution of the assays. You will implement entomology assays to support existing BASF bio-insecticide products and leads, including efficacy studies, dose rate studies, Quality Control (QC) and comparison with third party or market standard commercial products
Demonstrating your technical experience working with microorganisms and your ability to spray pesticides in the greenhouse and work with chemicals and biological compounds including reading and understanding labels and SDS's, following SOP's, wearing proper PPE (including occasional use of a respirator), you will conduct microbiology assays and commit to following and improving protocols.
Your unwavering commitment to workplace health and safety will be evident as you maintain compliance for biosafety (BSL2) and USDA/APHIS requirements.
Your keen attention to detail, recordkeeping abilities (including use of notebook) , and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information will be critical as you will be responsible for data management and organization.
Your ability to work well in a team and independently combined with your solid verbal and written communication skills will serve you well as you organize and communicate results to the manager and the rest of the team.
Your computer proficiency (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and ability & motivation to learn new techniques will aid you in protocol and method development. You will also use these skills in the elaboration of reports and Power Point presentations.
