Essential Functions: We are seeking an outstanding individual for a postdoctoral position available in Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical care. Applications should have a Ph.D in Immunology, Microbiology, Pathology, biochemistry or related fields. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to be a highly motivated, creative, and independent fast learner with a strong work ethic, excellent organizational, writing and communication skills, and critical thinking abilities. Candidates must be able to design and execute experiments that address important questions in biology that will ultimately lead to improvements in human health. Beside the conventional molecular biological techniques candidate should have interest in analyzing RNA-seq and ChIP-seq data. Our interests include transcriptional and post-transcriptional control of cell signaling in the immune system under physiological and pathological situations. Our lab major foci are immunological and metabolic diseases, such as inflammatory lung disease and intersection with metabolic diseases, including Diabetes mellitus. We specifically, work on the influence of metabolic disease (Diabetes) on the outcome of inflammation. We work with both human derived cells and stable cell lines. Another main focus of the lab is to elucidate the role of microRNAs and other non-coding RNAs in immunity, and integrate novel post-transcriptional circuits with well established signaling and transcriptional networks.
