This position is in the Department of Molecular Microbiology. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
A position is available in the Wang lab to exploit novel viruses to learn more about fundamental biological mechanisms and the etiologic basis of human disease. A multi-disciplinary approach encompassing genomics, bioinformatics, epidemiology, molecular biology, cell biology and virology will be implemented to define novel host-virus interactions. For these studies, the lab utilizes a variety of model systems:� human, C. elegans, bacteria/bacteriophage. Among the topics of interest are the role of the virome in inflammatory bowel disease and lung transplantation, as well as new emerging infections.�
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
Prepares and submits papers on research.
Assists in the design of research experiments.
Evaluates research findings and assists in the reporting of the results.
Maintains conscientious discharge of their research responsibilities.
Maintains conformity with ethical standards in research.
Maintains compliance with good laboratory practices, including the maintenance of adequate research records.
Engages in open and timely discussion with their mentor regarding possession or distribution of material, reagents, or records belonging to their laboratory and any proposed disclosure of findings or techniques privately or in publications.
Maintains collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members and members of the research group.
Adheres to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations. All data, research records and materials and other intellectual property generated in University laboratories remain the property of the University.
Ph.D., M.D. or an equivalent terminal or doctoral degree.
Demonstrated ability to implement laboratory procedures conduct research and records findings.
Prior experience with virology, phage biology, cell culture, and/or C. elegans.
Base pay commensurate with experience.
