The Post-doc will be primarily responsible for gut microbiome profiling of RGS14k/o and WT mice including DNA extraction, PCR, rRNA operon profiling, SIP experiments, data analysis, experimental design, grant writing, and publication of results.
Minimum Education and Experience:
A Ph.D. degree in biology, or a health-related discipline (preferably with a strong microbiology or immunology component).
Laboratory experience related to research area and knowledge of molecular biology techniques is essential.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Laboratory experience in a research position, including molecular biology experience.
General computer skills, and experience with Oxford Nanopore instrumentation are essential.
Willingness to do a variety of tasks from menial to highly specialized.
Candidate will need to sequence using the ONT MinION and be familiar with table top ultracentrifuges.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Manual dexterity, experience and care in analytical procedures, a strong sense of methodology and precision, ability to perform detailed work and monitor multiple concurrent events or tasks.
Knowledge of modern laboratory techniques in molecular biology.
