The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking four (4) Molecular Biology Research Associates for our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing high-volume daily biological test procedures along with basic molecular biology lab maintenance duties. This position will report to the Laboratory Science Director and will be responsible for high volume biological sample test management, and performance, quality control, result review and reporting, and equipment maintenance in a timely manner.
Core responsibilities include:
* Following standard operating and molecular biology laboratory safety procedures, adhering to quality control policies including equipment maintenance, sample and reagent preparation and testing * Keeping detailed and organized record of tests, instrument logs, and technical analyses * Conducting diligent reporting and statistical tracking * Identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results immediately to the Laboratory Science Director * Documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the lab's established performance specifications * Troubleshooting equipment which fails to perform adequately
* Bachelor's degree biological sciences, bioengineering or related field is required * One year of experience in standard molecular biology laboratory research operations is required * Experience collaborating and communicating with robotics and IT specialists is preferred * Reasonably skilled with complex technical reporting is preferred * Experience working with qPCR and similar methodologies is preferred
