Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a highly motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic Laboratory Technician for the Center for Immunity and Inflammation within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine located at the New Jersey Medical School.
The primary purpose of this position is to perform and assist with technical laboratory procedures and analyses in support of specialized research activities in an immunology-focused laboratory.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Breeding and genotyping of mice and general maintenance of animal colonies.
Ordering, unpacking and storing of laboratory equipment and supplies.
Preparing and maintaining cell culture reagents and stock solutions.
Assists with maintenance of equipment and instruments.
Helps maintain records, files and databases.
Assists with experiment preparation and execution including animal dissection, tissue harvesting and flow cytometry.
Performs standard laboratory procedures including cell culture, cell counting, nucleic acid isolation, molecular cloning, PCR, RT-PCR, ChIP, western blotting, ELISA, mouse dissection, in vitro and in vivo models of infection involving bacteria and viruses, microscopy, and multi-color flow cytometry.
Records and analyzes data.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree in a relevant science.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science.
Previous experience in cellular immunology, microbiology or virology, flow cytometry, and/or mouse models of disease.
