The primary purpose of the position is supporting undergraduate pre-veterinary medical student preparation for entry into Colleges of Veterinary Medicine and related health science educational careers. This 9 month tenure track position will be assigned to teach undergraduate/graduate courses related to the following areas: laboratory animal science, animal science, gross anatomy, histology, principles of medical disease and/or medical terminology. The candidate will participate in graduate training.
The successful candidate is expected to continue, or develop, a research program related to integrated animal health initiatives and/or biomedical science within the purview of the initiatives set forth by research programs within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, including the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) and NIH. The candidate will participate in graduate training. Preference may be given to scientists with skills and interest in animal health, animal imaging (CT,MRI, radiology, microbiology, microsurgery, and/or ultrasonography or laboratory animal medicine.
Other service related activities will include serving on university committees, community service, professional consultation, and student advising. The position is a 9 month tenure track appointment
Ph.D.,DVM,DVM/Ph.D or equivalent degree(s) to be considered for this position (e.g.,formal training in infectious diseases of animals, anatomy or imaging science or laboratory animal medicine that supports training of undergraduate pre-veterinary medical students and graduate students in animal health science). The terminal degree is required by the date of anticipated appointment.

About Department of Animal Sciences, North Carolina A&T State University
The Department of Animal Sciences is housed in a 64,000 square foot, 2 story facility. It accommodates modern instructional classrooms, teaching laboratories and faculty research laboratories. The first floor includes a 12,000 square foot environmentally controlled laboratory animal resource unit. Bachelor of Science Degrees are offered in Animal Science, Animal Science (Animal Industry concentration), and Laboratory Animal Science, in addition to The Master of Science Degree in Agricultural and Environmental Systems with a concentration in Integrated Animal Health Systems. The department is supported by beef, poultry, swine, dairy, small ruminants, equine teaching and research facilities.
