The Seshadri lab is focused on identifying immune mechanisms of protection against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative agent of human tuberculosis. We perform detailed studies of unique human cohorts, such as 'TB resisters' as well as complementary work in animal models, including non-human primates. Increasingly, the work involves the generation of high-dimensional immunologic data requiring advanced mathematical and statistical approaches for analysis. Multi-institutional collaborations require coordination and integration with complementary clinical and microbiologic datasets.
The candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to one or more projects as well as learn cellular and molecular immunology. Current lines of inquire include:
Decoding the T-cell repertoire of TB 'resisters' using high-throughput T cell receptor sequencing (TCR-Seq).
Using single-cell RNA sequencing (CITE-Seq) to define the functional and phenotypic diversity of mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells.
Defining the functional diversity of antigen-specific T cells using novel computation approaches (COMPASS).
This is a full-time position with a 12 months service period with the possibility for yearly renewal dependent upon performance and continued funding. The start date for this position would be as soon as possible.

The Seshadri Lab is located on the University of Washington's South Lake Union campus, in close proximity to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Center for Infectious Disease Research among other major partners in Seattle's global health "hub." Dr. Seshadri supported by grants from the U.S. National Institutes of Health, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
PhD in biological or physical sciences with demonstrated proficiency in quantitative analysis of biological data in R or Python. Additionally, the candidate should have a track record of independent scientific inquiry as demonstrated by first author publications. The work is highly collaborative, so excellent written and oral communication skills are required as is the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities with exceptional organizational and time management skills. Prior experience with high-dimensional immunologic data (e.g. mass cytometry or RNA-sequencing) is desirable.
