A laboratory in the Center for Radiological Research at Columbia University Medical Center is seeking a technician to work with scientists using gene-expression based approaches to understand the mechanistic basis of radiation response. The Technician will be trained to work with animal models and human tissue, and will gain experience in real-time PCR and other basic molecular biology techniques and related analysis methods.
This will be a team effort and the technician will be expected to maintain and share records with the team, in addition to completing scientific and technical task in a timely fashion to maintain a smoothly functioning laboratory.
Additional responsibilities pertaining to laboratory safety, organizing supplies, monitoring, and ordering lab supplies, and other related duties as required.
Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Must have general knowledge of cellular and molecular biology.
Some laboratory experience is preferred, especially familiarity with RNA techniques and qRT-PCR.
