Postdoctoral Research Associate - Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence
Job Description: The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for working in the area of decision support systems, data analytics, and artificial intelligence modeling in livestock production and related areas. The program is seeking applicants with the experiences of historically underrepresented scholars in higher education, or those from a non-traditional academic pathway. PhD in Agriculture & Life Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related field
Demonstrated experience in working with statistical analyses, computer programming, model development and assessment, and artificial intelligence techniques
Within 5 years of obtaining PhD
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Computational skills with modern programming languages (e.g. .NET framework -C#, C++, VB-Python, or Java)
Application development (e.g. web-based or local)
Knowledge of using high-performance computing
Demonstrated communication skills and publication record
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Ability to work independently
Proactive, highly organized, and responsible with a strong work ethic
20%: Work with Dr. Luis Tedeschi and members of the Area of Excellence Quantifiable Animal Performance in the Department of Animal Science for collecting and analyzing research data associated with livestock production, which may include nutrition, genetics, microbiology, behavior, or animal products.
20%: Review of relevant literature, study design and implementation, data collection and analysis, write manuscripts and reports
30%: Development of analytical methodologies, including computer models and decision support tools using artificial intelligence technologies
20%: Help designing and writing grants (state, federal, industry)
5%: Collaborate with the mentor and advising committee for coordinating and managing relevant projects, and supervise student workers
5%: Perform other job-related responsibilities as required
